Built during the colonial era, the Napier museum houses an excellent collection of bronze and ivory carvings, coin collections and ancient musical instruments. The Sri Chitra Art Gallery within the complex houses many original paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. Aside from a botanical garden and a huge Museum of Natural History, you will also find a sprawling verdant green zoo. 

Ponmudi Hill

A breathtakingly beautiful hill station close to the city, Ponmudi is also known as the ‘Golden Peak’. It’s home to scenic waterfalls and springs, exotic birds and butterflies and offers excellent trekking opportunities.

Veli Tourist Village

A popular spot for family outings, it’s located at the point where the Veli Lake meets the Arabia Ocean. Facilities include different types of boat rides, 2 children’s parks, huge sculptures, flower gardens, Veli beach, horse rides, etc.

Shanghamugam Beach

This is a popular evening hangout location for the city’s indigenes, offering a long stretch of beach and beach-related activities, a children’s park, and a picnic area.
